Proverbs 31:28

13 May

“Her children rise up and call her blessed”

This is the day when we recognize our Moms.  No matter how you remember your mother, remember that in her heart, you will always hold a special place and no one or nothing will ever change that.

Moms aren’t perfect, and neither are any of us.  Moms don’t do everything right and some don’t do anything right; but if we forgive and love them, we will feel their love.

Whether your Mom was the best one ever, the worst you can imagine or maybe not even in your life…say a prayer for them today, forgive them for their failings and find a peaceful joy and a new love for them.  Whether they recognize it or not, they love you!  And through your love, their lives will be blessed.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms I know!

Matthew 10:39 (NKJV)

06 May

“He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.”

What is truly valuable in your life?    When something happens to one of your children, you will move heaven and earth to do what ever is necessary to save their life or help them… That is exactly what God asks from us.

Christ gave everything for us, he gave his life, and he did so in the most horrible of deaths.

When we come to God, we must do so on His terms, not on ours.  If something in our lives is more important than our relationship with Him, then we are putting something or someone else before our God.  We may gain a feeling  or a prize in our lives today, but at what cost?

I hear people say that… “It’s okay, who will it hurt”.  The answer to that may be - you.  Everything we do, everything we say and everything we think is known by God.  What ever you do make sure you are comfortable with… What would my family think of this, my husband, my children or my God.  How does it make me feel about myself.

Do you live for today…He who finds his life, will lose it…  or do you chose to ‘not go there’ because you know that if you CHOOSE to follow Christ, you will live the life he planned for you (and believe me, it is always more abundent than the one we thought we wanted)…He who loses his life for My sake will find it.

What do you do or think about that brings you pleasure today, but you know is not pleasing to God?

This week when something comes up that challenges your values, ask yourself…  Is this really worth it?  How would my family feel about this?  Is this pleasing to God?  Could I make a different choice?  Is this about feeling good today or am I willing to Not do, say or think this because of my love for my Lord?

What you chose to give up today, will be richly rewarded in heaven tomorrow!

Have a rewardingly blessed week.

BE WHO YOU ARE

29 Apr

1 Corinthians 12:12        “For as the body is one and has many members, but all the membrs of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

It’s just too hard to try to meet up to other people’s expectactions, and sometimes it just too hard to meet our own expectations of how we should be like the best of everyone and everything.

We get ourselves in trouble when we try to please our friends and those who assume that what they believe and what they do must be our calling too.   We are called to listen to the voice of God, to the instruction of the Father, to let Him guide us in His way.  Our gifts are from Him and they are not necessarily the same as someone else’s.  It doesn’t make our gift any less or their gifts any more.

We need to strive to become a better ‘me’, not a poor copy of someone else!

Too often we beat our selves up because we aren’t:

  • as good a singer as our pastor’s wife,
  • aren’t as good a speaker as Patsy Claremont,
  • aren’t good at quoting scripture or
  •  don’t make the best lasagna at church!

We want and need to learn from others and to stretch ourselves beyond our norm, but if you are lacking in these areas, then maybe those aren’t your gifts.   The Spirit will prompt you in the areas of your gifts.  In most cases, who we are and the gifts that God has blessed us with, will reveal themselves in our everyday life.

“If God made you an eye, being hard of hearing is no big deal.  Ignore the weakness.  Instead of worrying about what you can’t hear, keep improving your vision.”   from : Spirituality for the Rest of Us – Larry Osborne

What do you see as your gifts from God?  Do you ever compare gifts?  Thank God for entrusting you with what ever gifts you have been given.  There are none more important.

Have a blessed week.

The Immeasurable Mercy of God

22 Apr

Jesus believed in every possibility.  He preached these grand possibilities:

  • Man can be born again!
  • Character can be changed!
  • You can become a new person!
  • Life can be beautiful!
  • There is a solution to every problem
  • There is a light behind every shadow.

He became angry only with religious people who made people feel they were miserable, guilty sinners.  Jesus rushed to build – in the worst of sinners-a belief that they, too, could be saved for inspiring service!  He proclaimed the greatest possibility:  The immeasurable mercy of God.

Imagine what possibilities for exciting living this opens up to you!

“All things are possible to him who believes”  Mark 9:23

Show us, oh Lord, the people we can become and the people we can share your immeasurable Mercy to today!

What possibilities will you ask God to open to you this week?
