I’ve been robbed!

16 Feb

There is nothing more personal than having something taken from us.  To walk into your home and see that someone has broken in, even if nothing is missing, leaves you feeling violated.  When what is stolen is personal, when it is abusive, either verbal or physical, it is more than a violation…it is the most personal crime against us!

The reality is that even though you can report it…many don’t.   The reality is that even though it may not have anything to do with you…many think it does.  The reality is that even though you will heal…many never do.  The reality is that no matter what they take, no matter who they are…they have changed you!

Someone has taken your happy and turned it into anger.  Someone has taken your peace and turned it into fear, your joy into bitterness, your purity  into self-destruction.   Someone took the life you had and changed it forever.  What do you do now?

When someone breaks into your home, you add locks, install cameras and protect your property.  We tend to do the same thing when we are abused.  We isolate ourselves and lock up our heart.  We push people away and look at everyone through prison bars.  We chose to live a life behind the bars of fear and distrust.  We never want to be hurt again.  We try to protect ourselves…but we can’t.  What do we do?  We allow them to take everything from us!  We give them our happiness, our peace, our joy, our love, our life!

When we quit spending our time remembering how someone hurt us or how we’ve hurt others, sadness is exchanged for peace.  Recognizing the sin of other people against us, helps us to begin to deal with the confusion of their action.  We are only responsible for our own actions. Taking sin and pain to the cross, leaving it there, and moving forward is the most important thing we can do.  Satan wants us to dwell on the pain… on the action…on the sin; God wants us to dwell in Him.  Spending time remembering and re-living the action leaves us bound to the pain.   Dwelling on God’s Word keeps us free.

We must spend time, everyday, asking God to help us die to self; because, in our own flesh, nothing good dwells, (Romans 7:18 NKJV)

We need to focus on God and His holiness. (1 Samuel 2:2  NKJV)

Only He saves.  If we could heal ourselves, we wouldn’t need a Savior. (Ephesians 2:5)

Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted. (Luke 4:18)

Nothing is more powerful than breaking the barriers, nothing is more powerful than getting it all back!  Grieve, and I will grieve with you.  We have lost the most personal part of our past life…but are you ready and willing to find it again?

Thank you Lord, that you are our insurance policy, that you will restore our lives…fully and gloriously healed!

Hugs,  Thelma

Mark 2:17 Religious rules may actually ruin relationships.

09 Feb

17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”

What a blessed sermon today from Pastor Kurt Bubna.

Something we need to think about.  Are we so bogged down in our ‘rules’ that we can’t see people the way that Jesus did?  Stop for a moment, and realize that we are not saying that you change how you feel about things that are wrong, but that you love those who are in the middle of it and PRAY to our Father that HE will touch their heart and change yours.

If you read Mark, Chapter 2, Jesus challenged the most important of the Religious Rules of His day.

Mark 2: 1 – 12.  Jesus forgave sin…but only God could forgive sin.

Mark 2: 13 – 17.  Jesus called a tax collector to be His disciple and then when to his home and ate and drank with other tax collectors and sinners…this was not to be done.

Mark 2: 18 – 22.  Jesus did not fast, nor did His disciples…yet the followers of John the Baptist and Pharisees did, how could this be?

Mark 2: 23 – 27.  Jesus and His disciples worked on the Sabbath…but it was not lawful to do so on the Sabbath.

Galatians 3:28 – There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Next time you see someone…sit next to someone…pass someone  who looks different…who thinks different…who is different from you…like Jesus, see them as a child of God, who needs to know the saving grace of our Father.

Let’s make an effort, everyday, to not allow religious rules to be the reason someone never finds His way into salvation.  Be an example that leads others towards a relationship with Christ.  There is no greater relationship than one built on love and not rules.

Merry Christmas and the Happiest New Year!

23 Dec

Tomorrow night is Christmas Eve and we will all be in the midst of the hecticness of Christmas.

Let’s  remember what we have spent the last three months learning…that happiness is a choice!

It is not something that is given to us, even though we open each present hoping that it will make us happy.  It is not something we can buy, even though we try. It is not something that someone does for us, though they can make us smile.  It is not something that we will ever accomplish in our lifetime.  No one else can make us happy…

Happiness is something we chose to be!  We chose to be happy!

This Christmas, when the world gets so hectic, the kids get so frustrating and the relatives stay too long…Stop and chose to see the glitter on the tree, the smiles on the faces, the love of a family and the glorious reason for this season.  Stop and chose to respond in love and in kindess…And chose to make this the happiest Christmas ever!

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a HAPPY New Year!

Hugs,

Thelma

How to Keep Your Heart HAPPY – in everything.

24 Nov

How do you deal with life when you find out your husband is having an affair?  How do you deal with life when your child is addicted to drugs?  How do you deal with cancer in your body?  How do you deal with losing your spouse?  How do you deal with losing your job?  How can your heart ever be happy again?

Sometimes our heart just springs a leak!  Sometimes life dishes out more than we think we can handle.  Fear is the greatest reason we lose our joy.  You have God’s grace but because it is a gift of faith, you must trust Him.  Learn the FIVE ways that Jesus guarantees you a happy heart, always.

Philippians 2: 12-18  …

1.  Remember that God is with you, in you and for you!

2.  Be grateful, don’t grumble!   (Read Matthew 12:36)

3.  Keep your conscience clear!  You can’t be happy when you are filled with guilt or shame.

4.  Learn and Live God’s Word!  Change the way you think.

5.  Use your life to serve God by serving others!  Miserable comes from the word miser.

Everytime your life isn’t what you had hoped it would be, in every situation, ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”   Follow God’s Five step plan and you will find happiness in every situation.  Life won’t be any easier, but you will be happier and find the peace that you so desperately desire!  It’s simple…It’s not easy!
